Short summary - last update October 15th, 2018

Our proposal consists basically on the integration between on-site H2 generation and storage to the already existing infrastructure in a way that the new system is supported by the far-reaching roots of the older one allowing a smoothly transition to a more efficient and eco-friendly transport.

The implementation of this systems on already existing gas stations will require the necessary water supply to cover the demand. The water source will be determined in function of the availability of it in different geographies. Small-scale water treatment facilities connected to key industrial complexes will be implemented to address this issue. Hydrogen-fuelled electric trucks are already being carefully developed by companies such as Nikola.

The question lies on how we help this new technology enter the market. Governments need to take a key role in promoting these innovations by legislating measures that facilitate the commercialization of hydrogen technologies.

In your thesis you say you prefer on-site production of hydrogen at fueling stations above transportation of hydrogen. Transportation is regarded by you as too complex and expensive. Are you sure it's too hard to set up a network of gas pipes? Why not using pipelines, for instance In industrialised and harbour areas? What has drawn you to this conclusion? Can you give solid arguments?

You propose that the on-site hydrogen production process will be powered by a renewable energy source. This could be arranged by contracting green electricity from the fuel station's energy provider.

Did you consider a clean energy production plant 'on location' as well? If yes, how? If no, why not?

According to you the water necessary to produce enough hydrogen at each fueling station to satisfy demand will be provided by the most convenient source depending on the location of the station.

Stations near coasts could be fitted with desalination equipment. You mention the possibility of implementing small-scale water treatment equipment for other stations.

Don't you think this would make such a hydrogen fuel station too expensive?

To boost hydrogen powered trucks you say you would welcome subsidies: "The government should be the agent responsible for financially supporting truck owners." To put it mildly: this is not the most creatve or innovative solution to this challenge.

Could you be able to come up with an alternative proposal how to stimulate the transport sector to invest in hydrogen fuelled electric trucks? May we invite you to do do?

Regarding the high costs of fuel cell technology you propose "the design of a manufacturing process that allows higher production volume at a lower cost."

That seems rather obvious! In what direction do you expect the real progress?

What do you regard as the biggest hurdles for your own plan?
