New correspondent: Ye Luo from Chongqing University, China


We welcome Ye Luo and Zhengjie Yang, both from China’s Chongqing University, as our new correspondents. They will help us find serious candidates to solve one of the first three challenges. Furthermore they might look for opportunities to work out a next challenge and find topics to be featured in her region. The team of Cool Down The Planet asked Ye Luo to answer some questions.

Hi Ye Luo, can you introduce yourself?

My name is Ye LUO, an undergraduate student from Chongqing University. I am majoring in New Energy Science and Engineering, equipped with knowledge concerning thermodynamics, mechanics as well as engineering. Moreover, I expect to participate in potential programs, which focus on applying renewable energy technology to dismiss ecological and environmental problems.

What motivated you to choose for this study?

During my previous study concerning Energy and Power Engineering, I realized that traditional passages have reached a plateau to contribute to decelerating carbon emissions. Renewable energy technology could unite us to conquer the energy crisis, together with the gradual depletion of conventional energy.

What are your ambitions? How would you like to develop your future career?

I would like to be a researcher on renewable energy and eco-friendly vehicles, solving practical energy engineering problems. Hence, professional skills are indispensable. Moreover, inspirations from communicating with a worldwide ambitious ‘crowd’ could enrich my career.

Do you see any results from climate change in your region? If yes, can you give an example?

In recent years, owing to the global warming, consequent issues such as extreme weather and continuously sea level rising have been frequently reported. Everyone is involved in this situation. For instance, even in the hottest midsummer of a year, I needed a quilt to sleep in my hometown Dujiangyan, which enjoys a high reputation for its cozy living conditions. However, folks cannot live comfortably without an air conditioner there nowadays, with the tendency of global warming. As has been noted, mature renewable energy technology could assist slowing down global warming, at least, aiding human beings in live pleasant lives.

What makes Cool Down The Planet a very promising tool according to you? 

The innovation from students and researchers in relative fields is a strong quality of the Cool Down The Planet formula. Initially, guaranteed by systematic learning, students could come up with innovative methods that fit the theory. Additionally, passion and courage could support energetic students to achieve the goals.
